A single spark of jealousy plunges all into eternal ruin...
Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio proudly presents its latest production – Othello, the opening programme of the 2nd Hong Kong International Shakespeare Festival. Directed by Tang Shu-wing, this marks the final chapter of Shakespeare's four great tragedies, unveiling the cruellest lies of love and hate.
In a parallel universe and timeless space, jealousy and betrayal gnaw at the depths of the human soul. Love and deception weave an inescapable web, pushing the invincible Moorish general Othello into an irreversible abyss... Four exceptional actors, Leung Tin-chak, Mandy Wong, Lai Yuk-ching and Rachel Leung, each playing multiple roles, deliver this most devastating love tragedy. Through masterful physicality and profound inner tension, they strip away the superfluous to confront the audience directly with the eternal soul-struggle in Shakespeare's text, witnessing Othello's gradual descent into self-destruction.
